We’re often asked why a tiny house’s per foot cost higher than a traditional slab built home. The best way to explain this is to turn to the professional number crunchers.

In 2021, the average cost of a tiny home, nationally, is $52,000, a whopping 87% cheaper than the average price of a traditional home. However, buyers are paying 62% more per square foot on tiny home. — explained in the CNBC article.

Tiny houses often require specialized labor, custom sized or specialty materials, which all adds to overall cost of not just building but also maintaining the tiny house. Add to that, the level of detail and complexity in connecting and integrating tiny house mains (power, sewage, HVAC) in a such a small building is tremendously more expensive than a traditional house.

Now, if you’d rather not go the full build route, we do offer lesser expensive options for the handy DIYer: shell builds and steel frame kitsIf you have more money than time, shell builds are a great option and far less expensive one. Pricing depending on how much you wish to have us do. The minimum we can do is raise the steel frame, finish the exterior, install roofing, siding, windows and doorsFrom there, it’s as much or as little as you’d like to have completed.

A DIYer who wants to do it all can take advantage of our most economical offering, our steel frame kits, which start around $15,000. Kits come with everything you need to get your steel kit raised in a single day!
